Our Bankruptcy Legal Practice

We devote almost all of our legal practice to bankruptcy law, and represent more bankruptcy filers than any other practice in the area. Because of our tremendous experience in bankruptcy law, we can efficiently work through cases and easily provide our clients with effective legal counsel.

During your free consultation, we will discuss your specific options for dealing with your debt situation and determine if bankruptcy is your best option. If we determine that bankruptcy is going to provide the financial relief that you need, we can start looking at which type of bankruptcy will suit your situation.

If you decide to use our practice, we offer an extensive network of assistance for you. The legal matters that we often work with include:

  • Chapter 7 bankruptcy: By utilizing a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, you might be eligible to eliminate credit card debt, debt from medical bills, or other types of unsecured debt. A small percentage of debt, such as back child support, may not be able to be eliminated by filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Theron, D. Morrison, our founding attorney, is extremely experienced in working with Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy.
  • Chapter 13 bankruptcy: Filing for Chapter 13 bankruptcy involves a debt repayment plan that is submitted to the court by your attorney. If this plan is approved, any creditors that you have are required to follow the terms. By using a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, you may receive additional time to repay any debt that you have, and you might also qualify to eliminate portions of your debt.
  • Avoiding home foreclosure: By filing for a Chapter 13 banktuptcy, we may be able to help you stop or avoid home foreclosure, even if the foreclosure process has already started.
  • Stop harassment by creditors or collections: Filing for either Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy bars most creditors from any further contact, including continuing with the collection process or harassing phone calls.
  • Avoiding vehicle repossession: When bankruptcy is filed, any further activity by collection is given an automatic stay. Vehicle repossession may be avoided when you file a debt reaffirmation of Chapter 7 bankruptcy or through options for debt repayment in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy.
  • Relief from Credit Card Debt or Medical Debt: When you file for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, you may be able to eliminate unsecured debt, such as medical bills or credit cards. In order to qualify for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, an individual must meet a test for economic means. Many individuals who contact our law firm are able to meet the economic requirements to file for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Chapter 13 is also an alternative for those who don’t qualify for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
  • Loan Modification: We have had great success in helping many of our clients avoid bankruptcy altogether and still save their home. We can negotiate directly with your mortgage company to lower your mortgage payment by reducing your interest rate or principal, or extending the life of the a loan. We can even help avoid a foreclosure by convincing your lender to put your past due payments on the back end of your loan.
